Upcoming conference presentations
We are very pleased to share that a study led by Saba Kolahchian, Can Players Control Fear? Testing Ironic Process Theory in a Virtual Reality Survival Horror Video Game, has been accepted for presentation at two upcoming conferences: Comm Horizons @ UCD 2026: Communication in the Age of AI and Algorithms, to be held at UC Davis on May 15–17, 2026, and Meaningful XR 2026, taking place May 30–31, 2026 in Portland and virtually. The project examines whether players can suppress fear in a VR survival horror experience by testing ironic process theory through game design manipulations of cognitive load.
